Stories of Success: Ms. Anita Drummond

On Thursday, November 14, 2019, Ms. Anita Drummond, a relative child care provider completed her Mandated Reporter Training with the assistance of ELRC Region 5 staff. This is her success story.

Challenge

In the last year, Ms. Drummond was in an accident which impacted her ability to walk, talk, read, and write. She was concerned about taking her Mandated Reporter Training because she could not remember content she read once she clicked out of a page. Additionally, Ms. Drummond did not have direct access to the internet or a computer, so being able to complete the Training was problematic.

Success

Ms. Drummond came the ELRC Region 5 Main Office at 304 Wood Street in Downtown Pittsburgh. There, she was encouraged and supported by Bliss Letang, Early Learning Program Engagement Supervisor and Andrea Gardner, Early Learning Program Engagement Specialist (recently promoted to Quality Coach). While Ms. Drummond only completed the first three sections while at the office, she was able to finish the training later that day at home with the assistance of her daughter. When Ms. Drummond came for her orientation the following week, Bliss and Andrea presented her completion certificate to her in a frame.

“I appreciated the fact that you let me do this on my own, but were available when I had questions. I am incredibly proud,” said Ms. Drummond.

Congratulations to Ms. Drummond, and kudos to Bliss and Andrea on a job well done!
