Learn More

A collaborative initiative between the PDE’s Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL), and the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE), the Pennsylvania Engagement Birth Through College, Career Community Ready Framework includes Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)-aligned resources and information for local education agencies (LEAs).

A tool to guide learning communities in implementing effective practices, using shared langage, and applying a family engagement continuum across a child’s educational lifespan, the framework outlines a clear path and identifies a set of common standards for LEAs to plan and implement family engagement practice.

LEAs include:

  • programs and schools that receive funding, guidance, and mentoring from the PDE, OCDEL, and OESE;

  • school districts; and

  • associated community partners.

Regardless of socioeconomic background, research supports collaboration between educators, families, and community groups to support learning.
