Learn More

The Child Care Health Advocate course prepares early childhood practitioners to function in the role of a Child Care Health Advocate - professionals who work to ensure that their program integrates best practices in health, safety, and nutrition.

The course addresses 15 different health and safety modules as a resource for child care directors, teachers, assistant teachers, and child care practitioners. Participants will learn to assess, identify, and prioritize health and safety needs of children and staff and will learn to collaborate with a registered nurse or licensed physician who serves as the facility’s child care health consultant.

This 10-week, three credit hour college course is taught remotely from October 2 through December 9, 2023. Students also meet via Zoom at certain times and engage in other required course activities online through Blackboard.

Tuition Assistance

Student tuition, fees, and textbooks will be funded by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) and the American Academy of Pediatrics PA Chapter for child care facility staff currently employed in Pennsylvania.
