Pittsburgh Black Maternal Health Event to Feature Policy Discussions, Demonstrations

Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives is hosting an event centering around Black maternal health that will feature discussions on policy, tech demonstrations, and storytelling.

Black Maternal Health on the Rise will be held at Pittsburgh’s Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh from April 14 to 16. 

The event will highlight the need for action, elevate community-led solutions, and focus on the lived experiences of pregnant Black women and families. 

The event’s highlights will include:

  • Monday, April 14 - a conversation on the role of fathers in birth equity, demonstrations of innovations, and an opening reception during which attendees can network with local leaders and change-makers

  • Tuesday, April 15 - a policy hearing on legislative solutions regarding the modernization of midwifery and maternal health deserts, a press conference to call for statewide action, a keynote luncheon, a panel discussion on Black maternal health in Pennsylvania

  • Wednesday, April 16 - an event to honor history and equip advocates for action, a brunch and learn event featuring a discussion on birth equity and justice, and a closing session
