CCW Payment Policy Modified for School-Age Children

The Office of Child Development and Early Learning has announced that child care programs participating in the Child Care Works (CCW) Subsidized Program will be paid a full-time rate for school-age children who are in child care during a remote learning day, regardless of whether or not the school district is providing hybrid or full-remote options; however, providers must accept the school-age blended rate to do so.

School-age children whose schools have announced various schedule changes to the school year/day to prevent the spread of COVID-19 can enroll in child care during regularly scheduled school hours during the 2020-21 school year.

Effective August 31, 2020, child care providers will be paid a full-time rate for school-age children who are in child care during a remote learning day, regardless of whether or not the school district is providing hybrid or full-remote options. Providers will be paid blended rates for before and/or after school care on days a child attends school in person and on school closure dates.

Providers must accept the blended rate in order to receive full-time rates for remote learning days. If a provider does not accept the blended rate, the provider will receive a part-time rate for school age children whether they attend part-time or full-time as per the standard blended rate policy.

To accept the blended rate, child care programs must complete Appendix C-1 of the Provider Agreement and return it to the ELRC Region 5.

The blended school year rate is calculated by adding together 25 days at the provider’s full-time standard rate and 180 days at the provider’s part-time standard rate, divided by 205 days (the total number of days in a school year).
