Back to School Events in Allegheny County
Those looking for back-to-school events around Allegheny County will have many options from which to choose. At least nine events are currently scheduled in county school districts.

On Aug. 3, The Salvation Army Pittsburgh Temple Worship and Service Center will hold a Back to School Bash for students in the South Hills from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event will take place at the temple, located at 1060 McNeilly Road. Hundreds of backpacks, school supplies, gently used clothing, and shoes will be distributed to local families and haircuts will be available. To register, call 412.207.2127.
The North Boroughs Back to School event will run from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 939 California Ave. on Aug. 7. The event will hand out supplies for pre-k to 12th grade students. Register by calling 412-487-6316, option 1, ext. 3143.
On Aug. 9, the Source Church Backpack Block Party will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 1922 Pennsylvania Ave. in West Mifflin. The free community event will include supplies for kindergarten through 12th grade students. To register, call 412-927-5111.
The Back 2 School Bash at Bliwas Field will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Aug. 10 at 1099 1st Ave. The free community event will hand out supplies for kindergarten through 12th grade students. Register by calling 412-474-3372.
SHIM Back to School Distributions pass out supplies for K-12 students on three different days. The three dates are:
Aug. 13, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at SHIM Center Bethel Park
Aug. 15, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at SHIM South Hills Family Center
Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at SHIM Center Bethel Park
And, on Aug. 19, #PittsburghForPPS will hold its Back-to-School Event on the North Shore. Supplies for kindergarten through 12th grade students will be available. Check the PPS events calendar on their website for more information. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Acrisure Stadium.
