On Monday, November 25 from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. at City of Asylum, educators can learn practices that create engaging and inviting classrooms for refugee students at a workshop with Dr. Xia Chao from Duquesne University.

Through a grant from the National Geographic Society, Dr. Chao conducted research over several years that explored the experiences of local refugee communities including the Nepali, Karen, and Somali Bantu. The workshop will share her findings and offer local educators insight into working with and supporting immigrant and refugee families in their interactions about the education system. Light refreshments will be offered and Act 48 credits will be provided.
